If your reason for coming to Rawalpindi keeps you near the old city, Al-Idrees Guest House sits right in the thick of it on Liaqat Road, a stone's throw from Raja Bazar and all its noise, colour and cheap eats. Sattar Tikka House is under half a kilometre away when hunger strikes, and there is a united bank branch and a police station both within a couple of hundred metres, so errands and peace of mind are close at hand. Rates here are among the more forgiving, starting at PKR 6,500 a night and topping out at PKR 14,500, which makes it a sensible pick for travellers watching what they spend. The rooms keep things straightforward but sound: beds and mattresses ready, geysers so hot water is never a gamble in winter, attached bathrooms, and Wi-Fi to stay connected.
