For medical students at Bahria University Medical and Dental College, it is hard to imagine a shorter commute than this. The hostel sits right at the college on Sailor Street in Karachi Cantonment, roughly a minute's walk from both Bahria Medical Karachi and the main Bahria Karachi campus, with Indus University a little over two and a half kilometres away. That proximity is the whole appeal for co-ed residents who would rather roll out of bed and be in class than fight cantonment traffic. Rooms come furnished with beds and mattresses, so a new arrival really only needs to bring their books and their own bedding preferences. Wi-Fi keeps coursework and video lectures moving, while UPS power backup takes the sting out of Karachi's load-shedding during exam season. Filtered drinking water is on hand too, a small but genuinely useful thing in this city. Rent runs between 31,250 and 50,000 PKR per month depending on the room arrangement. Shifa Pharmacy is essentially next door, and Tooba Masjid is about half a kilometre off, so the everyday errands of student life stay close. It is a straightforward, no-nonsense base built around one thing: being where the college is.
