Peshawar's guest houses cluster where their guests' work is.
University Town sits between University Road and Jamrud Road, a leafy grid of former residences that now houses NGO offices, consultancies and international organisations. It is walking distance from the University of Peshawar and Khyber Teaching Hospital, and it holds the bulk of the city's guest house stock — including 12 of the 14 properties priced in this guide.
Hayatabad is the planned suburb further west: numbered phases, wide sectors, and the Hayatabad Medical Complex plus the Karkhano Market belt. Its guest houses serve hospital attendants, families visiting relatives in the phases, and business travellers who want quiet over bustle.
GT Road and the Ring Road fringe is the transit belt — handy if you are driving through from Islamabad or Punjab and just need a bed near the bypass, but it is the noisiest of the three and the least suited to families staying more than a night.
If your trip is meetings, a university admission, or a medical consult, University Town wins. If it is a long hospital stay or a family visit to the phases, book Hayatabad. Only pick the GT Road fringe if your car is doing the deciding.
