Epoch Inn Guest House Skardu is the quality pick — 4.9 across 201 reviews, the highest rating in the guest-house tier. If your trip has one splurge night in it (say, the night you come off Deosai), spend it here.

LOKAL Rooms x Skardu (Katpana Retreat) — technically listed as room rentals rather than a guest house, though it's guest-house-style and competes squarely in this tier — trades town convenience for setting, out by the Katpana cold desert. It has the tightest range of the three at Rs 9,500–12,000/night (listed), so pricing surprises are minimal.

Skardu Guest House is the outlier: a flat Rs 1,400/night (listed), the cheapest bed in our entire Skardu dataset. At a 3.8 rating, set expectations accordingly — this is a clean-enough crash pad for trekkers burning a buffer day, not a base for a family week.

The quiet stars are the lodges. Skardu Lodge (4.6, 149 reviews) and Regency Lodge Skardu (4.7, 101 reviews) both list at Rs 4,000–7,000/night — guest-house-grade ratings at roughly half the guest-house median. What about the famous names — the "luxury hotels in Skardu" searches for Shangrila Resort's room price, PTDC Motel's rates, Serena Shigar Fort, Hotel One, Byarsa or Himmel by Luxus? Shangrila (the lake resort at Lower Kachura) and Serena's 400-year-old Shigar Fort conversion sit at the top of the market and routinely sell out in July–August; PTDC Motel is the old expedition standby that trek operators bundle into packages. None of them list rates on Staezy, so we won't guess numbers — confirm current pricing directly with the property before you plan a budget around a screenshot from last season.

Most people aren't in Skardu for Skardu — they're staging for somewhere higher. Match the base to the mission:

• Deosai National Park. There are no year-round hotels on the plateau itself; it's open roughly late June to September, and almost everyone does it as a jeep day-trip (or one camping night) from town. So "hotels near Deosai National Park" really means any Skardu stay plus an early start — pick from the tables above and let your host arrange the jeep, which is exactly the service the guest-house tier charges its premium for.

Sleeping in Shigar puts you an unhurried morning's drive closer to Askole and gives you the fort and the Sarfaranga cold desert without the day-trip rush. • K2 Base Camp trek. Treks launch from Askole, and operators typically bundle your Skardu nights into the package — usually at PTDC Motel or similar. If you're booking your own pre- and post-trek nights, think in phases: cheap and functional before (Skardu Lodge or Regency Lodge Skardu at Rs 4,000–7,000/night), then comfort after — three weeks on a glacier earns you Epoch Inn's 4.9-rated hot shower. Getting in. The flight from Islamabad takes about an hour and is one of the world's great window-seat rides — when it flies.
