Live numbers from the 626 Lahore hostels listed on Staezy:
| Segment | Listings | Typical monthly rent |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated girls hostels | 107 | Rs 21,000–42,000 (median ~28,750) |
| Dedicated boys hostels | 90 | Rs 20,000–42,000 (median ~23,750) |
| Coed buildings / room-rentals / guest houses | 429 | Rs 8,000–16,500 (median ~10,500) |
| Cheapest real beds | from Rs 5,000–8,000 (shared, basic) | |
| Premium ceiling | Rs 58,000–67,500 (private, AC, food included) |
Read that table twice, because it contains Lahore's biggest pricing secret: the "hostel" brands are the premium product here. Dedicated boys/girls hostels — the ones with names, wardens, mess service and marketing — charge 2–3× what a bed in an unbranded coed building or room-rental costs. Neither is automatically better: the branded ones bundle food, cleaning and security; the budget ones give you a bed and freedom. Decide which model you're buying before you compare prices, otherwise every comparison is apples-to-oranges.
